The hotel is a bit dated, but it was clean and it smelled fresh. The rooms were spacious and simple. It is located near Black Sand Beach and good restaurants. There is also plenty of tea and coffee available in the hallway where the rooms are.

Stayed two separate nights. One night in the front of the hotel and one in the extension. The only issue we had was the room in the extension didn't have temperature control and it was quite warm.

Breakfast is included. It has the normal Icelandic items, plus fresh waffles!

The hotel looks run down from the outside but was fine on the inside. The rooms were quite large and the bathroom looked quite new. Unfortunately, they only had curtains in front of the windows and they did not keep out the light. The breakfast was fine, I really liked being able to make waffles.

Pretty good. Rooms were clean and has a good kitchen set up. Pretty quiet. Not too expensive for Iceland. Beds were pretty stiff and while it had blackout curtains they did not cover the windows completely so it was very light through the night. There was no bathroom on our floor and the stairs are steep, narrow, and winding which made for rough night time trips to the bathroom (I'm pregnant so there were many).

Puffin Hotel Vík

Waterfall inside a cave, only accessible by hopping on stones so take boots that can get wet. Inside the cave you wil probably get wet too because of the fog, but the experience is amazing.. never seen something like this before.

There is a big rock where you can stand on to make awesome photo's.

One of my top 3 favorite waterfalls!! Prepare to get wet! This beauty comes down inside a cave, so you have to wade through a stream to get inside. Most likely though, you'll have the place mostly to yourself! It's beautiful and very unique!

This waterfall is just minutes walk from Seljalandsfoss and is kind of hidden behind the big Boulder , one needs rain jacket and waterproof hiking boots to get there stepping on the big stones but the experience is indescribable, simply stunning

Gljufrabui

I can definitely see why this is known as one of Iceland's most under-rated waterfalls. Short, beautiful trail will bring you here. Very cool, tons of rainbows. Highly recommend. Walking distance from Skógafoss.

This waterfall is not well-known, but is beautiful in its own right. It is only a 6 minute drive from Skógafoss followed by a 5-10 minute walk through a small canyon.

One can walk behind the waterfall or down to the riverbed and take incredible photos.

Note that paying for parking is required here and one can do so through the QR code provided on the sign near the gate.

A short 10 mins flat terrain walk to this beautiful waterfall! The height of the fall is decent enough for a good shot. At the parking lot, there are shops and restaurants for a break.

Kvernufoss

Beautiful waterfall you can walk behind, not without getting pretty wet however. We waited in the parking lot (paid parking) for the rain to pass and were able to visit the waterfall before the tour busses showed up and dumped 100s of people.

A unique experience to be able to walk underneath a waterfall.  Full waterproofs made it really enjoyable as we could linger.  Make the walk along to the next fall though. Use the stepping stones to get into the chasm to stand at the base of the fall.

There is a reason this waterfall is so popular ... well, really two: One, you can walk behind it safely, though likely also damply. Two, it is literally just off the Ring Road involving no effort to see it. Also, it is quite beautiful.

Seljalandsfoss

This was a phenomenal little hike. Gorgeous views. You don't have to pay for parking.
There's no hike really to see the bottom, but there are a lot of stairs right on the first leg. It's not bad though.
One of my favorite spots on the week long visit!!

This must be one of the most beautiful places I've seen. This big amazing waterfall is so beautiful. You can go real close and feel the power of the water. You can also go on the top, it's about 500 steps to the top. And the view is amazing! I would recommend you to bring a backpack with some water and maybe some food. And have a good amount of time to use there. Because from the top of the waterfall, it's a trail that leads you further inwards the mountain. And it's so many smaller yet beautiful waterfalls there.

Definitely I would highly recommended waterproof trousers and coat as you will get soaked by water as you approach closer Waterfall. But it is an amazing experience. There is pathway to climb up above Waterfall where you can walk around and see river and other smaller waterfalls. Beautiful scenery and if you are lucky with sun behind your back you will see lovely rainbow 🌈
